UNEATLANTICO lecturers take part in an Erasmus+ programme at the University of Pavia, Italy

Dr Susana Pulgar and Ainhoa Bores, lecturers on the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFYD) at the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), have participated in an Erasmus+ mobility programme for teaching staff at the prestigious University of Pavia, Italy.

The University of Pavia is one of the oldest institutions in Europe and has a strong tradition in the field of medicine since its foundation in 1361. During their stay, the lecturers gave several sessions focusing on the relationship between physical exercise in special populations and the use of technologies applied to health improvement.

In addition to the academic activity, they had the opportunity to visit the university’s anatomy museum, which houses a valuable collection of historical pieces used in teaching related to the human body. Bores mentioned that ‘one of the highlights of the visit was the demonstration of an advanced virtual dissection table with images of real cadavers, a technology used by students to practise anatomy in an interactive and highly realistic way.’

Finally, the teachers emphasised that ‘the experience has proved to be highly enriching on both a professional and personal level, promoting the exchange of knowledge, the development of future academic collaborations and immersion in Italy’s valuable cultural and scientific heritage’.

In this way, the teachers at UNEATLANTICO demonstrate their commitment to internationalisation and the importance of intercultural experiences for the development of the university community.
