Rubén Calderón, rector of UNEATLANTICO, held a meeting with Diana del Campo, director of the Nestlé de la Penilla factory

Rubén Calderón, rector of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (Universidad Europea del Atlántico, UNEATLANTICO), met with the new director of the Nestlé de la Penilla factory, Diana del Campo, in order to expand collaborations between both institutions in the food area.

UNEATLANTICO and Nestlé de la Penilla already collaborate through a dual-track internship program for students of the degree in Food Science and Technology (FST) and the degree in Engineering of the Agricultural and Food Industries (EAFI). This program seeks to create synergies between Nestlé and the university and ensure that students obtain the best training and the highest degree of employability.

In addition, the students of UNEATLANTICO have had the opportunity to visit the factory facilities as part of the subject of Animal Food Processing, taught by the teacher Javier Gómez.

At the meeting, Calderón and del Campo discussed topics on possible research in the food area, as well as expanding collaborations between both institutions.

Also, the role of trainees within the company was highlighted as UNEATLANTICO graduate students now work at Nestlé. This fact reinforces the link between the university and the factory. In addition, it shows the usefulness of this type of programs to facilitate the transition to working life.

The European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) is the only university in northern Spain to offer all degrees related to food; degree in Food Science and Technology (FST), degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND), degree in Gastronomy (GASTRO) and the degree in Engineering of Agricultural and Food Industries (EAFI).
