Dr. Álvaro Velarde Sotres, coordinator of the PhD program in Physical Activity and Sport: Risks and Benefits and teaching and research staff of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), has participated in the Congress of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), held this year in the city of Salt Lake City, United States.
The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is the world’s largest scientific organization for sports medicine and its annual congress is considered one of the most prestigious international meetings in the field of physical activity, sport and health sciences. The event brings together researchers, practitioners and reference experts to share the latest advances in basic science, applied science and clinical medicine.
At this prominent scientific forum, Dr. Velarde presented two research papers that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of sports medicine and physical performance.
The first of these, entitled “Effectiveness of shoulder ligamentoplasty and its relationship with immobilization time and re-dislocation rate”, aims to evaluate the effectiveness of shoulder ligamentoplasty by analyzing its relationship with the time of postoperative immobilization and the incidence of reluxation.
He also presented the study “Assessment of thermal asymmetries in professional soccer players according to field position”, focused on the evaluation of thermal asymmetries in the femoral rectum and the femoral bicep of soccer players based on their position.
Dr. Velarde’s participation in this international congress constitutes a valuable contribution to the scientific community and evidence of UNEATLANTICO’s active presence in some of the main academic forums. It also shows the commitment of the University to generating knowledge in areas related to physical activity, sport and health.
