The Department of Nutrition of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) has launched a new study in this course 2024-2025. It is the project entitled “Relative energy deficiency syndrome in the sport of students of the European University of the Atlantic”.

The main objective of this project is to establish whether there is an energy deficiency in these people, that is, to find out if they consume the necessary calories to maintain a good state of health and physical performance.
This project is framed within the elaboration of the master’s thesis of the student Álvaro Lasarte García, and is supervised by Dr. Sandra Sumalla, dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Dr. Iñaki Elío, academic director of the degree of Human Nutrition and Dietetics (NHD).
The Department of Nutrition invites UNEATLANTICO students, who are involved in any type of physical activity or sport, to take part in this new program. By taking part in the study, students will be able to learn more about their body composition, after a study with the bioimpedance machine, and their energy expenditure, through an indirect calorimetry test. In this way, those interested in participating will not only be able to learn more about their physical progress, but will also be helping the progress of scientific research being carried out on the university campus.
To participate, students must enter the following link where they will find a registration form. Once the form is completed, they will be summoned to the Nutrition Care Center (CAN), located on floor -2 to begin with the measurements.
The Nutrition Department of UNEATLANTICO advises “do not miss the opportunity to get a free report on your body composition and your energy expenditure”.
