On September 23rd, the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) held its traditional Welcome Day, an event designed to welcome incoming international students from around twenty countries.
With the start of the 2026–2027 academic year, the university welcomes more than a hundred international students from various countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The event, held in the UNEATLANTICO Exhibition Hall, began with welcoming remarks by the university’s president, Rubén Calderón, and the head of the Mentoring Program, Paula Díaz-Velarde.
Several students who participate in the mentoring program also took part in the event, sharing their experiences as UNEATLANTICO students with the new students. Through their testimonials, they highlighted how their college experience has contributed to both their academic education and their personal development.
Next, Esperanza Gutiérrez and Cristina Méndez, representatives of the International Relations Office (ORI) at UNEATLANTICO, provided the students with useful information on the main procedures and processes related to immigration, with the aim of helping them adjust and answering any questions that might arise during their first few months in Spain.
The event continued with presentations by Pablo Monzón, coordinator of the Physical Activity and Sports Office (SAFD), as well as Luis Herrero and Aitor Navarro, who are members of that office. The organizers presented the various sports activities offered by the university and showed a video about the SAFD’s programs. They also explained the various training groups, workshops, and competitions in which students can participate throughout the school year.
To wrap up the day, various activities were organized to help new international students integrate and socialize. The students had the opportunity to share their first experiences in Santander, meet their classmates, and discuss their expectations for this new academic and personal chapter. Among the scheduled activities was a bingo game with prizes consisting of merchandise from the university.
