On September 10th and 11th, the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) held a welcome event for new students of the 2026–2027 academic year, with the goal of helping them transition into university life and introducing them to the main services, resources, and opportunities offered by the institution.
During the orientation sessions, students learned about how the university operates, its various departments and support services, the Virtual Campus, international exchange opportunities, extracurricular activities, and the different ways to get involved in the university community.
The event began with a welcome address by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Faculty, Josep Alemany, on behalf of the Rector, Dr. Rubén Calderón, who emphasized the importance of supporting students as they take their first steps at the university.
Next, the secretary general of UNEATLANTICO, Jesús Peña, spoke virtually to welcome the students, thank them for the trust they have placed in the institution, and encourage them to make the most of their time in university.
Alemany also encouraged students to feel like part of the university community and to embrace the academic experience beyond the classroom. In this regard, he highlighted UNEATLANTICO’s international character, the opportunities for mobility, and the chance to interact with students of different nationalities.
Services and Resources for Students
For her part, the head of Student Services, Mayte Galán, presented the main departments and support resources available to students, including the Academic Secretariat, International Relations Office, Psychopedagogical Office, Sports, Languages, Cooperation, and Social Action Office, as well as the work placement and employability services. In addition, the university highlighted its extracurricular activities, volunteer initiatives, clubs, and associations, as well as campus spaces designated for studying, working, and socializing.
The Virtual Campus: An Essential Tool Throughout the Degree Program
The event included a presentation on the Virtual Campus by David García, head of Academic Planning, who explained how it works and the main resources available for tracking subjects and communicating with faculty. New students were encouraged to become familiar with this tool right from the start, as it will be a part of their education throughout their studies.
The event concluded with presentations by the directors and coordinators of the various degree programs, who met with the students to provide them with specific information about their studies and answer their initial questions.
With this initiative, UNEATLANTICO kicks off the 2026–2027 academic year by reinforcing its commitment to supporting students from the moment they join the University and by promoting a college experience that combines education, participation, internationalization, and personal and professional development.
