The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) together with the Official College of Psychology of Cantabria (COP Cantabria) hosted in the facilities of the Uneatlantico residence the Expert Assessment Course on Work Disability.

The training was aimed at college members and pre-school members of COP Cantabria with the aim of training psychology professionals in the assessment of work capacity, providing them with practical and methodological tools for the preparation of expert reports in contexts of incapacity for work.

During the two days, attendees were able to deepen their knowledge of the main aspects related to psychological assessment applied to incapacity for work processes, acquiring fundamental tools for professional performance in the expert field. The aim of the training was to prepare professionals in the assessment of a person’s working capacity, as well as in conducting methodologically appropriate interviews.

The course was developed through a participatory methodology, combining theoretical presentations with practical dynamics such as role-playing, video analysis and exercises based on real cases, which favored active participation of students and applied learning.

The lectures were given by specialists Susana Blanco Fernández, doctor in Psychology and accredited expert in FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY, and Carmen González Pais, accredited and professional forensic psychologist linked to the FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY Unit of the University of Santiago de Compostela, both with a wide teaching and research career in the legal and expert field.

It also had the participation of Isabel Diego, responsible for the Area of Legal Psychology, and teacher of UNEATLANTICO who highlighted the importance of this type of specialized training to reinforce the technical preparation of professionals in the expert field.

The activity was developed thanks to the institutional support of the Presidency, Justice, Security and Administrative Simplification Ministry of the Government of Cantabria, which financed this training with the aim of promoting initiatives for specialization and professional updating in the field of legal and forensic psychology.
