The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), organizes professional days, aimed at students of the degree in Translation and Teaching of Languages (TTL), Translation and Interpretation (TI) and Applied Languages (AL). These days aim to bring the world of work closer to their students.
The conference was held in the university’s Hall of Acts and featured a variety of speakers, offering students an enriching perspective on the world of translation and interpretation. In this way, students get to know professionals in the sector firsthand, discover new job opportunities and have a holistic view of all the potential and versatility that these degrees have.
First of all, they had a presentation by Alex Shuja, who spoke about entrepreneurship from the private sector and language academy. Subsequently, they had the presentation of Sarah Rodriguez who focused on interpretation in the private sector and tour management.
The third presentation was given by Valeria Valdez, who spoke about the publishing sector beyond translation. Then, Dr. Katarzyna Ostrowska spoke about the world of linguistics and its outcomes, this presentation was given in English. Finally, the day ended with a presentation by Alfonso Vallés, who focused on audiovisual translation, that is dubbing.
The director of the degree in Translation and Language Teaching (TTL), Dr. Paula Quijano, highlights that the conferences “have had a great reception among the students and that one of the most valued aspects is the diversity of professionals involved, since every year we try to represent different professional opportunities within the sector in order to promote a broader and more enriching view of the workplace .
