UNEATLANTICO and FUNIBER publish international report on the challenges of teacher training

On World Teachers’ Day, celebrated on October 5th, the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic) (UNEATLANTICO) partnered with the Universidad Internacional do Cuanza (International University of Cuanza) (UNIC), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de Mexico (International Iberoamerican University of Mexico) (UNINI México), the Fundación Universitaria Internacional de Colombia (International University Foundation of Colombia)(UNINCOL), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de Puerto Rico (International Iberoamerican University of Puerto Rico) (UNIB)  and the Universidad de La Romana (University of La ROMANA) (UNIROMANA). These institutions are part of the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER) network. Together, they present the 2023 International Report on the Challenges of Teacher Training 2023, which aims to highlight the needs of teachers and promote improved teacher training systems.

The report reflects the views of 1,700 educators, predominantly teachers, regarding their training needs and challenges. Data was gathered through Spanish and Portuguese questionnaires distributed to professionals in 39 countries.

Specialists in education were also interviewed to gain insights into the challenges faced by teachers.

UNEATLANTICO, in collaboration with FUNIBER, is hosting the “Educational Innovation” conference, featuring speaker Carlos Hevia-Aza, an entrepreneur, teacher, and coach who won the 2015 Educaweb National Award for Academic and Professional Guidance. The conference is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. (Spanish time) on October 5 at the university, but it will also be broadcast live.

Fostering communication for development

To foster public discussion on teacher training, it’s essential to engage the media for development-focused communication. At FUNIBER, in collaboration with the Universidad Europea del Atlántico, we’ve motivated our Master’s in Communication students to write articles on the challenges of teacher training. Some student-written articles, submitted voluntarily, will be featured on FUNIBER’s communication platforms and those of affiliated universities.

All these initiatives have been orchestrated by FUNIBER’s Social Action department in partnership with the Teacher Training department. All content can be seen here.
