Peruvian team Carmelitas is proclaimed winner of the V Pan American Pre-University Debate League

The Pan-American Pre-University Debate League of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) has culminated with an intense final in which the team representing Peru has been proclaimed champion.

The Carmelitas team from Colegio Nuestra Señora del Carmen of Peru faced the Venezuelan team represented by Colegio Nuestra Señora de La Paz. The topic discussed during the final was “Is the use of social networks useful as a source of truthful information?”

During the debate, the team Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Paz, maintained the position in favor of the topic discussed, while Carmelitas defended the arguments against.

The Carmelitas team composed of Jorge Enrique Fuentes, Maria José Pérez, Valentina Guinassi and Yukio Alonso Kanashiro, together with captain Sol Zarak, was proclaimed winner of the fifth edition of the League. The team from Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Paz, was formed by Ángella Trías, Franco López, Jorge Guapache and Bárbara Contreras, with Yesymar Emilia as captain. In a close final, the Peruvian team obtained 46 points against the 40 points obtained by Venezuela. The difference between them and the champions of the V Edition of the Panamerican Pre-University Debate League of UNEATLANTICO is 6 points. Previously, teams from Guatemala, Venezuela or Ecuador had been awarded, but this is the first of all editions in which a Peruvian team wins.

Finally, from the European University of the Atlantic we want to thank the participation of more than four hundred students who formed seventy-two teams in fifteen countries that made up this edition.
