The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) has handed over to Cáritas Diocesana de Santander the proceeds obtained during this academic year through two of the solidarity activities organized by the university community. This collaboration is part of the framework agreement signed between the two entities a few months ago, with the aim of strengthening joint social and solidarity actions.
As every year, the University allocates the funds raised to an entity with which it maintains a close collaboration. On this occasion, the beneficiary has been Caritas, in recognition of the social work it carries out to support individuals and families in vulnerable situations.
The amount delivered comes from two initiatives held throughout the course. On the one hand, of the traditional Gastronomic Fair organized during the University Day, in which students of different nationalities participate by installing stalls with typical dishes of their countries of origin. The activity, in addition to promoting cultural exchange and coexistence among the university community, also has a marked solidarity character.
On the other hand, part of the revenue corresponds to the sale of tickets for the play performed by the UNEATLANTICO Theatre Hall, whose members prepare and rehearse the performance throughout the academic year.
The donation was made by the university delegate María Victoria Madariaga, accompanied by representatives of the Office for Cooperation and Social Action (OCAS) of the University, Laura Saiz, thus reaffirming UNEATLANTICO’s commitment to social cooperation and support for entities working in favor of those who need it most.
