The eighth edition of the Short Story Contest of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European Atlantic University, UNEATLANTICO) is on its way. The deadline to submit entries is April 19, and the awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 8.
The contest, which is organized by the university Library, aims to stimulate the creative and literary production of the contestants since the most exciting part of the contest is to read the stories that in the end reflect the concerns and thoughts of the author, and it is like being in contact with the creative and personal world of each one, as well as reinforcing the cultural value of literature among students, professors, and university staff.
Any member of the university community (students, teaching staff, and administrative staff) may participate by sending up to three stories per participant by e-mail to the following address: biblioteca@uneatlantico.es, exclusively in Word format.
As for the content of the stories, they will be of free subject matter, their length may range from one line to a maximum of two pages, they must be original and unpublished, not have been awarded a prize in any other contest, and must be written in Spanish, in “Arial” font, twelve-point size, and with single spacing.
When deciding the winners, the jury will especially value the interest and coherence of the written story, its creativity and originality, the clarity and structure of the text, syntax, and spelling. From all the participants, the three best stories will be selected and will become finalists. The winner will be chosen by the members of the jury from among the three finalists and will receive a gift voucher valued at € 200. The other two will receive a gift and a diploma.
