FUNIBER’s president attended the royal reception in honor of the president of Angola, where a new university will be inaugurated
FUNIBER’s President, Santos Gracia, at the reception that the King and Queen of Spain offered to the President of Angola and his wife.

The President of the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER), Santos Gracia, attended the royal reception offered by Don Felipe and Doña Letizia in honor of the President of Angola, Joao M. Gonçalves Lourenço, on the occasion of his official visit to Spain. FUNIBER, promoter of the European University of the Atlantic will inaugurate next week a university campus in said African country, specifically in the town of Cuito. The luncheon was also attended by representatives of other Spanish companies with interests in Angola, as well as representatives of society, culture, science and sports.

Prior to the reception, His Majesty the King had held a meeting at the Zarzuela Palace with President Gonçalves, in which they were accompanied by the Spanish Ambassador to the Republic of Angola, Manuel Hernández Ruigómez, and the Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Luis Manuel Cuesta Civis, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola, Téte António, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Angola in Spain, Luis de Matos Agostinho.

Similarly, Gonçalves Lourenço met with the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, and both signed a Joint Declaration to deepen bilateral relations and strengthen areas of economic interest for Spanish companies and investments in the country. Numerous companies in Spain are currently developing projects such sectors as water treatment, industrial refrigeration, health, education, training and geology.

International University of Kwanza

The relationship between the two countries in academic matters is strengthened with the launching of the International University of Kwanza, in which the Iberoamerican University Foundation is involved, and which will educate nearly 12,000 students with Spanish, Angolan and Ibero-American teachers. In addition, in 2021-2022, two Angolans will carry out a research stay in Spain within the framework of the MAEC-AECID scholarships. The official inauguration of the new campus, which will take place on October 5, will be attended by the Angolan president, Joao M. Gonçalves Lourenço, the president of FUNIBER, Santos Gracia, and the rector of the European University of the Atlantic, Rubén Calderón.
