The Universidad Europea del Atlántico European (University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) has received a visit from Dr. Anna Forés, a recognized reference in the field of pedagogy and neuroeducation, who gave a talk focused on the application of neuroscience to teaching.
During his speech, Forés explained how knowledge of brain function can become a key tool for improving teaching and learning processes in classrooms. In this sense, he stressed that for a student to learn meaningfully it is fundamental to awaken his curiosity, emotion and motivation, since “the brain does not retain information if there is no emotional link with what is being learned”.
The session allowed attendees to learn and put into practice various neurodidactic and resilience tools, aimed at helping future teachers create safe, respectful educational environments adapted to each student’s different learning rhythms.
Also, the expert addressed the importance of dismantling so-called “neuromites”, i.e. false beliefs related to learning and brain functioning that still persist in many educational contexts. In this context, he argued that the school must act as a “refuge” capable of accompanying students in overcoming their personal and academic difficulties.
Dr. ’s visit Forés to UNEATLANTICO highlighted the need to unite scientific research with daily educational practice and the emotional component, with the aim of moving towards a more humane, innovative and effective education for new generations.
