On 20 March, and in the context of the celebration of the 5th Practical Refresher Meeting in Medical Sexology, SEXMED held at the Hotel Milagros Golf in Mogro, took place the presentation of the Diplomas of the 8th and 9th Promotion of the Master’s Degree in Permanent Training in Medical Sexology by the Rector of UNEATLANTICO, Mr. Ruben Calderón.
In addition, the first Chair of Sexology and Health of our country was presented created by UNEATLANTICO, in collaboration with the entity CIPSA HEALTH and led by Dr. Carlos San Martín Blanco, coordinator of CIPSA.
The creation of the Chair of Sexology and Health at the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) was born as a natural evolution and strategic complement to the Master’s Degree in Permanent Training in Medical Sexology that has been offered for a decade and represents a unique opportunity to address a fundamental training need in our society, as well as seeking to consolidate and expand UNEATLANTICO’s leadership in the field of sexuality studies, from a perspective of transversality, creating an academic reference space that integrates teaching, research, knowledge transfer and social engagement.
To this end, research seminars, the editing and publication of studies and scientific articles in impact journals and editorials, the transfer of knowledge and dissemination of the results of its researchers will be promoted through this Chair, as well as any other formula that makes visible the research work of professors and researchers from both institutions.
UNEATLANTICO and CIPSA in their commitment to educational innovation, internationalization and social responsibility, position themselves as the ideal framework for the development of this chair, which aspires to become a national and international reference in the field of sexology and comprehensive health.
The establishment of the Chair of Sexology and Health represents a natural evolution of the educational collaboration agreement between UNEATLANTICO and CIPSA that will allow:
– Consolidate and expand the critical mass of specialized researchers.
– Create synergies between the existing Master’s and new academic initiatives.
– Enhance the national and international visibility of the university in this field.
– Generate additional resources for research and development.
– Establish new institutional and business collaborations.
The Chair of Sexology and Health will develop six priority research lines, under the direction of Dr. Silvia P. González. These lines are designed to address current scientific needs and generate innovative knowledge with social impact, such as the Neurosciences of Sexuality and Emerging Technologies, Sexual Health in Special and Vulnerable Populations, Digital Sexuality and E-health, Social and cultural determinants of sexual health, innovation in comprehensive sex education and professional training, and finally sexuality, aging and quality of life.
