The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) hosts the gala of the V Short Film Festival of UNEATLANTICO, named as “The Fede”. A total of 20 short films have been presented to this fifth edition and ten have been awarded by the jury in the different sections of the competition.

The gala was presented by the student of the degree in Journalism (JOU), Paula Díaz-Velarde, and the student of Engineering of Agricultural and Food Industries (IIAA), Daniel Campuzano. Before the awards ceremony, singer Bonnie Gamarra was in charge of opening the festival with her performance.

One of the highlights has been the award of the Federico Fernández Special Prize in recognition of the extensive professional career of Marisa Fernández, Cantabrian producer and winner of the Goya Award for best film for “Los Domingos”.

Then, the award ceremony took place, led by the students of UNEATLANTICO, who contributed to the gala their characteristic humor and sympathy.

First, the award for best sound was announced, which was awarded to “The Light That Never Fades”, a short film that also received the award for best photography. The award for best editing went to “Queen of Mississippi”, while the award for best screenplay went to “We’ve arrived.” Also, the award for best actor was for the protagonist of “In the Village”, and the award for best actress for the protagonist of “Chance”.

On the other hand, the award for best art direction went to “Las Sintrom”; the best production, to “Naranjas traigo”; and the best direction, to “De rebote”. Finally, the gala culminated with the award of the best short film, which was for “Ya hemos llegado”.

Finally, and as one of the novelties of this edition of the festival, a special Fede was given to Federico Fernández, professor at UNEATLANTICO and a reference for many of the university’s communication students. In addition, the name and image of the festival pay homage to his figure.
