UNEATLANTICO opens the doors of the degree in Sport and Exercise Science to students from IES Muriedas

The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic) welcomed last Friday at its campus students from IES Muriedas, who had the opportunity to visit the facilities and learn by the hand of UNEATLANTICO teachers about the Degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

The biomechanics laboratory of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico received a group of 22 Sophomore students from the IES Muriedas, who are taking the elective course: “Active and Healthy Lifestyle.” A subject that, according to high school teacher Iván González, “is the only subject of its kind linked to the Physical Education Department in our autonomous community of Cantabria.”

UNEATLANTICO teacher, Ainhoa Bores, was in charge of addressing the students during a session that consisted of two parts. Thus, the talk began, first of all, “with a small theoretical explanation of what is the biomechanics of human movement and its main objectives, the optimization of performance, and injury prevention,” says Bores, who then showed “an example of how to perform a biomechanical analysis in different sports disciplines.”

Secondly, the students played a leading role by participating in a hands-on practice with the OptoGait tool. Ainhoa Bores first offered a theoretical explanation of the tool and how to use the software. Two jumping tests and a running test were then carried out with the future university students, who were then shown how to interpret the results obtained, as Bores explains.

Technical lectures

In this way, the Universidad Europea del Atlántico teacher, Ainhoa Bores, has led the first of the technical talks that will star the faculty of the degree in Sport and Exercise Science, which will bring to High School students the teaching carried out at the University.

“From IES Muriedas, we are delighted to be able to attend the university, and we hope that some of our students can enroll in the degree,” said Iván González. González also thanked the University for its willingness and assistance in this project.
