The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) held an institutional meeting with the Hospital Santa Clotilde, a center belonging to the Order of St. John of God, in order to explore and lay the foundations for future avenues of collaboration between both institutions.
On behalf of the university, attended the rector, Rubén Calderón, and the vice rector of Research and Transfer of Knowledge, Juan Luis Martín; while, on the hospital side, participated the medical director, the director of nursing, the manager and the chief of operations.
During the meeting, different areas of potential cooperation were discussed, highlighting the practical training of students through internships and internships in the hospital environment, as well as the joint development of applied research projects aimed at improving the quality of care and innovation in the health sector. Also, special emphasis was placed on the transfer of knowledge between the academic and clinical fields, favoring a two-way approach that allows to enrich both university teaching and professional practice.
Another of the key themes addressed was the teaching collaboration between both institutions. In this sense, it was proposed the participation of hospital professionals in university training activities, contributing their practical experience, as well as the involvement of university professors in initiatives aimed at the staff of the health center. This exchange would help to reinforce the updating of knowledge and encourage continuous professional development.
As a result of the meeting, both entities expressed their interest in formalizing this relationship through the upcoming signing of a framework agreement that establishes the general lines of collaboration. Subsequently, it is envisaged the development of specific agreements that implement actions and projects in areas such as teaching, research and care practice.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of understanding and institutional collaboration, allowing to identify synergies and opportunities for joint work that will contribute to strengthening the relationship between both entities and to generate a positive impact on both the training of future professionals and the quality of health care.
