The Physical Activity and Sports Service (SAFD) of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) highlighted the results obtained during the sports days held on March 25 and 26, in which they faced the University of Cantabria. In these meetings, students and athletes from the university community actively participated in both individual and team competitions, demonstrating a high level of commitment and sportsmanship.
The activities took place in the UC Sports Center and in the facilities of the Municipal Sports Institute, hosting disciplines such as badminton, table tennis, paddle tennis, pickleball, indoor soccer, basketball and volleyball.
On March 25th, the badminton, table tennis and pickleball competitions took place. In the latter discipline, Inés Trueba shone by proclaiming herself champion in the women’s individual category, and repeated her success in mixed doubles with Samuel Rodríguez. In the men’s doubles category, the pairing of Mario Ferreras and Luis de la Mano managed to clinch victory.
On the same day, the padel and tennis matches were also played. Alain Castillo and Javier Trueba were crowned champions in men’s padel, while Javier added another win in mixed doubles with Marta Rivero.
The day of March 26th was dedicated to team sports. The exciting basketball, indoor soccer and volleyball finals were played. In men’s futsal, the Minguetis team from UNEATLANTICO won with a convincing 7-3 victory, demonstrating great coordination and efficiency in the game.
With this participation, the SAFD reaffirms its commitment to the promotion of university sports, encouraging the practice of multiple disciplines, betting on the integral development of the students through physical activity and participation in sporting events both on and off campus.
