The academic director of the Communication degrees, Ana Visiers, and Professor Helena Garay, responsible for Extensión Cultural (Cultural Extension), are representing the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), one of the sponsors of the event, to the presentation of the  Premio Mujer Cantabria 2023 (Cantabria Woman Award 2023), granted by Onda Cero.

Judge Marta Solana has been awarded with Onda Cero’s 5th Premio Mujer Cantabria in an event organized at the Palacio de la Magdalena (Magdalena Palace) in Santander. The event was presided over by important figures such as the president of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga; the mayor of Santander, Gema Igual; and the corporate general manager of Atresmedia, Patricia Pérez.

Judge Solana, head of Juzgado Número 11 (Court Number 11) in Santander, has received the Premio Mujer Cantabria in recognition of her outstanding daily work with which she “contributes to building a stronger and healthier society.” Upon receiving the award, Solana dedicated it to all the women of Cantabria, especially to her colleagues, the judges, and magistrates who “act with absolute independence and a vocation of service to the citizens.”

María José Sáenz de Buruaga, together with Patricia Pérez, presented the award to Marta Solana, emphasizing her “impeccable” professionalism and her “human quality.” The President of Cantabria has emphasized with respect to the laureate: “Behind a great judge, in your case, is an extraordinary person. A generous and caring woman who feels useful serving others, those who need it most.”

For her part, Patricia Pérez, expressed her gratitude to all the candidates who have participated in the five editions of the award, stressing that this initiative brings to light “wonderful stories of effort, work, and generosity.” Pérez considers this award as a recognition of female talent in Cantabria.

Marta Solana has shown her generosity by donating the check for 2,000 euros that accompanies the award to AMPROS, an association that supports people with intellectual disabilities and their families. Roberto Álvarez, managing director of AMPROS, has indicated that they consider Judge Solana a very close reference for them.

UNEATLANTICO, represented by the teacher Helena Garay, has been part of the jury of the 5th Premio Mujer Cantabria. The University hopes that events such as these will continue to give visibility to outstanding Cantabrian women who stand out for their exceptional careers, building an equitable and egalitarian society in Cantabria and throughout the country.
