Bathco Balonmano Torrelavega, runner-up in the King’s Cup

The Torrelaveguense Handball team, which has the support of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), finished runner-up in the Copa del Rey 2024 held in Jaén, and will play in the EHF European League next season.

The Cantabrian team has been measured against Barça handball in the XLIX edition of the Copa de S.M. el Rey handball cup, held at the Palacio de Deportes Olivo Arena in the city of Jaén, after beating BM Logroño in the semifinals in a hard-fought match. The team emphasizes that “all that work, effort and dedication ended up placing Torrelavega in the final of the Copa del Rey and, perhaps more importantly, on the map of Europe”. In the final of the King’s Cup, Bathco stood out for its courage throughout the game, reaffirming the quality, values and passion of the team, which will face the best teams in the continent next season.

It is worth mentioning that five of the team’s players are students of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico. Among them, Daniel Ramos, student of the Master in Sports Performance: Training and Functional Assessment (MRD); as well as Carlos Gómez, Fernando González, Jokin Aja and Miguel de Cos, students of the degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CAFYD).

It should be noted that the European University of the Atlantic, in its vocation to promote physical activity and sport in the region, offering the degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFYD), is also a sponsor of Bathco Torrelavega Handball.

For his part, Jesús Peña, vice secretary general of UNEATLANTICO, adds that “it is an honor for our University to be a small part of this project and of this milestone that endorses the excellent sports and club management work that Bathco Balonmano Torrelavega has been carrying out for so many years”.

From UNEATLANTICO, we celebrate, applaud and support this achievement reached by Bathco BM Torrelavega.
