The teacher of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (UNEATLANTICO), Yves Díaz de Villegas, publishes his new book “La salamandra desnuda” under the new imprint of Editorial Planeta, NdeNovela.
“The Naked Salamander” is a thriller that plunges into the depths of Japanese society, intertwining elements of passion, danger and the enigmatic practices of the Yakuza. The protagonist, Alice Clowes, finds herself in an extreme situation at a mysterious ryokan near Lake Motosu, where danger and seduction are intertwined in a plot that promises to keep readers on the edge of their seats.
This work is not only an exploration of the dark corners of Japanese culture, but also a study of human limits in the face of fear and survival. Professor Díaz de Villegas, known for his diverse academic and professional career, has mentioned that the book was born out of his interest in narrating a different culture, the Japanese one, as well as his personal preference for such books. As he mentions in a media interview: “To me, Japan seems to be one of the most exciting destinations because it is where the people are the most different from us in terms of individual, social and work thinking structure. And the challenge of understanding them and making yourself understand them, of getting to be on their wavelength, is a real challenge.”
The publication of “La salamandra desnuda” is part of a broader strategy of NdeNovela, which seeks not only to diversify the literary genres in its catalog, but also to introduce new talent to the publishing world. According to Belén López Celada, editorial director of the imprint, NdeNovela aspires to be a benchmark in the creation of literary brands in the coming years.
Díaz de Villegas’ novel is the fourth to be released this year under the NdeNovela imprint.
