Vicente Bayarri, lecturer and researcher at the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) participates in the Digital Heritage 2025 Forum in Abu Dhabi as a session coordinator and speaker. The Digital Heritage Forum is a first-rate international event that brings together various heritage areas and conferences on one platform.
The Digital Heritage 2025 Forum brought together 48 countries, 132 speakers and 138 leading global institutions, organized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT Abu Dhabi). This represented a major international event entitled «Where heritage meets innovation», in Spanish: «Donde el patrimonio se encuentra con la innovación».
For his part, Bayarri participated as coordinator, along with Dmitry Voyakin, and speaker in one of the several sessions held. His paper focused on E-science, digital twins, the use of AI and predictive conservation of archaeological sites of special interest.
Its session, entitled «Preserving the Irreplaceable – Digital Preservation, Archival and Infrastructure», focused on the forward-looking debate on digital heritage, highlighting both opportunities and risks in the preservation of the irreplaceable. He also focused on exploring technologies such as artificial intelligence; digital twins; immersive VR/AR reality; IoT and geospatial systems, which are transforming risk anticipation; environmental monitoring; and cultural heritage protection.
Institutions such as the Great Egyptian Museum, the National Museum of Korea, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the National Library of Qatar and CNRS/DAFA participated as speakers. The session highlighted transformative directions for resilient heritage management.
The presentations showed a clear evolution from simple digitalization towards sustainable digital preservation ecosystems, where AI, environmental monitoring and digital twins allow to anticipate risks and strengthen preventive management.
