UNEATLANTICO presents two scientific papers at the UIMP Doctoral Meetings

The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) participated in the II Doctoral Meetings, under the slogan ‘From innovation to impact: research and transfer to society,’ organised by the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) for the 2025-2026 academic year.

In this edition, UNEATLANTICO presented two scientific papers within the framework of the Doctoral Programme in Physical Activity and Sport: Risks and Benefits, directed by Dr. Álvaro Velarde, which address lines of research of great relevance to the sports and scientific fields.

On the one hand, the paper ‘Neurophysiological markers for the identification of fatigue in athletes’ was presented. The study highlights the urgent need for more comprehensive research to establish a precise correlation between these markers and the physiological responses of high-performance athletes. The ultimate goal of this study is to analyse the response in athletes and optimise the identification of this key factor in sports performance.

A scientific paper was presented that explores the use of infrared thermography as a non-invasive method for assessing the risk of injury and fatigue in professional footballers. The research, entitled ‘Infrared thermography for the identification of thermal asymmetries in professional football players,’ has as its main objective the identification of possible temperature differences in the athletes’ bodies. This is done in order to detect and correct thermal imbalances that may be indicative of functional asymmetry or uneven load, taking into account the gender and specific position of each player.

It should be noted that doctoral students Yehinson Barajas Ramón and Jeisson Andrés Mosquera Maturana represented UNEATLANTICO with the presentation of their research progress, taking advantage of the occasion to exchange experiences and generate synergies with other researchers at the national and international level.

With this participation, the European University of the Atlantic consolidates its commitment to academic excellence, quality research and the training of professionals capable of driving innovation in the field of physical activity and sport.
