The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) organized a round table in collaboration with Baloncesto en Silla de Ruedas Cantabria (BSR), focusing on the theme of inclusion in sports. The talk was addressed to students of the degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFYD) within the subject «Inclusive Physical Education».
The purpose of the round table was to highlight the importance of inclusion from the perspective of physical and sporting activity through adapted sport. They counted with the participation of Pablo Miguel López, founder, player and president of BSR Cantabria; Javier Crespo, chair basketball player; Óscar Laguna, Cruz Ruiz and Jesús Mon, all players of the BSR.
The speakers shared key points about their injuries and how they have affected their sports practice, as well as the importance of promoting the normalization and inclusion of people with disabilities in society. They also commented on more technical aspects such as logistics for travelling to a competition or personal organisation for training, among others.
This talk was an opportunity for the students to know first hand what sports reality is for athletes with injuries, as well as being able to explore the different career paths that their degree has.
