Instituto Campechano hosted the First International Education Congress «Transform for the Future», an academic meeting that brought together national and international specialists to reflect on educational challenges in a context marked by technology and innovation. In this context, the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European Atlantic University, UNEATLANTICO) and the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de México (International Ibero-American University of Mexico, UNINI México)participated as invited institutions, providing fundamental insights into the role of artificial intelligence in contemporary educational environments.
During the day, Dr. Roberto García Lara, research professor at UNINI Mexico, presented the paper entitled «Regulation of Artificial Intelligence in Digital Universities: legal, ethical and academic governance challenges». In his presentation, he discussed the regulatory challenges facing higher education institutions as they rapidly adopt AI-based technologies. The expert stressed the importance of building clear, ethical and operational regulatory frameworks that allow these technologies’ potential to be harnessed without compromising educational quality, data protection or institutional integrity. Its presentation generated wide interest among teachers and managers, especially in view of the increasing use of automated systems in training and administrative processes.
For his part, Dr. Ernesto Thomson, academic of UNEATLANTICO, gave the lecture «Artificial intelligence, truths and myths: Let’s learn to use it with human intelligence». During his speech, he invited to dismantle misperceptions about AI and understand it as a support tool, not as a substitute for critical thinking. He stressed that the current challenge is to strengthen human skills to use technology in a responsible, strategic and meaningful learning-oriented way.
The participation of both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to pedagogical innovation and to fostering an informed academic dialogue on the transformations that will define the future of education. The event concluded with the Instituto Campechano recognizing the speakers for their outstanding contribution to the academic strengthening of the region.
