Sixty-six engravings from series 347, made in 1968, which Picasso extracted in 1971 to include them in the edition of the book La Célestine by the Spanish writer Fernando de Rojas.
In these engravings of the Celestine, two contrasting treatments are verified: on the one hand, the dynamic ones, where the characters run, flee or burst in, even on horseback, before women who react to the invasive action, fleeing or remaining firm, being victims or accomplices of their own abduction. On the other hand, the static ones, in which one or more gallants enjoy the contemplation of the semi-naked body of the lady, exhibited to the possible clients by the procuress; or the simple frontal exposure of the lady in one or another degree of nudity, alone or being the object of courtship of the usual voyeurs.
