Students from UNEATLANTICO collaborate with the Medical Association of Cantabria in the face of the situation caused by Coronavirus

The Medical Association of Cantabria, through its president Javier Hernández de Sande, requested the collaboration of final year students from the Degree in Psychology and the Master in General Health Psychology at the European University of the Atlantic to collaborate as volunteers in psychological support and accompaniment during the situation caused by the COVID-19.

A total of 73 students have responded to the request of the College of Physicians of Cantabria to voluntarily and selflessly help those who need it in the face of such an extraordinary situation as the one we are experiencing, displaying the most humane and supportive side of our young people.

There are two tasks for which their help has been of need. On the one hand, to collaborate with 112 emergencies and the call center service to provide encouragement to the elderly or those who are isolated in their homes. And to provide information, listening and giving guidelines for managing stress and anxiety.

Secondly, helping the medical staff if necessary, by providing guidelines for stress management.

The students can collaborate from their own homes (via telephone) and, if necessary, may join the 112 call center as a reinforcements.

The European University of the Atlantic shows its admiration for all those who work every day to return a sense of normalcy and wishes to collaborate through its student volunteers with the impressive work being carried out by the health personnel in our community and our country.
