Students from the degrees in Audiovisual Communication, Journalism and Advertising and Public Relations offered by the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (UNEATLANTICO, European University of the Atlantic) received an informative talk on the Rueda con Rueda short film festival, to be held soon. Registration closes on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.
The talk was given by festival coordinator, Pedro del Río. Pedro detailed all the requirements, instructions and information necessary to participate in the contest. Since it involves promoting a wine brand, he warned participants of the restrictions they must take into account.
They were also informed that if they decide to participate, their short films are eligible to compete for two different awards: Best Short Film for students of the Film and Audiovisual program, and Best Short Film “Rueda con Rueda”. Both involve a financial award and recognition. Awards also include the “Origen Rueda” (Original Film) and mentions for Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Cinematography.
Students are encouraged to participate in Best Student Short Film and Best Short Film, with the possibility of the same short film winning both awards as in previous years. The only requirement for the student short film is that the director must be enrolled, though this does not apply to the cast and crew.
Since the competition ends in October, if the director is a student during the film’s production, but has graduated by October, they can still qualify for this award.
Lastly, a space was opened to answer any questions that the students had regarding the festival, after which they were shown the short film “La Culpable” (The Guilty One) which was the winner of last year’s contest.
For the last edition of this competition, the jury was made up of: film director Pablo Berger, actresses Lucía de la Fuente and Elisabeth Larena, along with actor Javier Botet and the general manager of the Rueda D.O., Santiago Mora.
