Mohamed Attaoui, Spanish Olympic athlete and European runner-up, has visited the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) to participate in the scientific research that is being carried out with the collaboration of the Cantabrian Athletics Federation (FCA). The evaluation was attended by the coordinator of the Doctorate Programme in Physical Activity and Sport: Risks and Benefits, Dr. Álvaro Velarde Sotres and by the technical director of the Cantabrian Athletics Federation, Santiago Velasco.
Through the PhD Programme in Physical Activity and Sport: Risks and Benefits, an evaluation has been carried out in the laboratory of UNEATLANTICO. The research focuses on carrying out evaluations of Attaoui throughout the season, with the aim of analysing injury risk factors, sports performance and fatigue. In addition, the study aims to evaluate the impact of training load and individualisation of training, using novel technologies.
For the European University of the Atlantic it is an honour to receive the visit of Mohamed Attoui, whose participation in the research will show a valuable contribution to the results, allowing to obtain key data for the improvement of the performance of the athletes of the Cantabrian Athletics Federation. His visit to the university campus reinforces the commitment to research and the advancement of knowledge in the field of sport.
Finally, Attoui underlines that sports scientific research ‘is something very important and very interesting to know data about me, which is something I have never done before, to know my weak points and to continue improving my performance’.
