The Cultural Work of FUNIBER and the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), the International University Foundation of Colombia (UNINCOL), and the Economic Culture Fund (FCE) have inaugurated the exhibition ‘Las cenas de Gala’ and ‘The Capricious Dreams of Pantagruel’by artist Salvador Dalí in the Débora Arango exhibition hall at the Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Centre in Bogotá, Colombia.
The opening ceremony was attended by Juan Carlos Madrigal, Director of Organisations, and Carolina Triana, representative of FUNIBER’s headquarters in Colombia.
The exhibition will be open from 11 to 30 June and can be visited from 9:00 to 18:00. During this month, a varied cultural programme will allow visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in the dreamlike and provocative universe of the Catalan artist.
On the one hand, ‘Las cenas de Gala’ (Gala’s Dinners) consists of 12 photomontages by Dalí inspired by a gala dinner at Maxim’s restaurant in Paris. On the other hand, ‘Los sueños caprichosos de Pantagruel’ (The Capricious Dreams of Pantagruel) comprises a set of 25 colour lithographs on Japanese paper based on the satirical and humanistic work of French writer François Rabelais.
These are two series of prints by the painter from Cadaqués, highly illustrative of his very personal style, which fits into the surrealist movement, where the absurd, the dreamlike, the surprising and the bizarre make up a puzzle of great artistic value.
