Students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences (CAFYD) at the Universidad Europea del Atlantico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) went on an educational field trip to learn about the city’s sports centres. On this occasion, third-year students had the opportunity to visit Ability Room and Training Lab as part of their course on ‘New Trends in Fitness and Wellness’ taught by Adrián Rodríguez, a lecturer in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The aim of the trip was to bring students closer to the reality of the sector, allowing them to see first-hand the cutting-edge methodologies in the field of training and sports health. In addition, both Ability Room and Training Lab have a close relationship with UNEATLANTICO, hosting both interns and former students who have already entered the job market.
Ability Room, with centres in Torrelavega and Santander, specialises in training, rehabilitation, movement education and physiotherapy. It uses scientifically proven methods to improve physical condition and help people of all ages overcome their challenges.
Training Lab, founded by UNEATLANTICO graduates, is a 450 m² gym focused on health and performance. Open since October 2022, it offers personalised training, as well as nutrition, physiotherapy and rehabilitation services.
During the visit, students gained an insight into the world of fitness and wellness through exchanges with professionals in the sector. This experience gave them an up-to-date view of the sports field and possible connections for their future careers.
These types of initiatives are part of UNEATLANTICO’s commitment to offering practical education connected to the real world. The university continues to focus on learning to train the sports professionals of tomorrow.
