Dr. Susana Pulgar and Ainhoa Bores, teachers of the degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences (CAFYD) of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), have made an Erasmus stay at the National University of Physical Education in Bucharest, Romania.
The teachers had the opportunity to give classes in the subjects in which they specialise to the third year students of the university they visited. The lectures given were based on physical exercise in special populations and the use of electronic devices for this purpose. Specifically, their main topics and subsequent practical work focused on “Blazepods” as a method for improving physical and cognitive fitness in the elderly.
“Blazepods” are a new form of reactive training, i.e. they are touch-sensitive devices that are activated or deactivated by tapping, swiping or patting. They are composed of a wireless LED light technology that is controlled by an app. This new technology has shown enormous benefits for physical exercise and for improving neuromuscular and cognitive efficiency.
This proved to be an extremely enriching experience for both teachers, as not only were they able to teach classes on this new technology and develop professionally, but it was also a new experience and they had the opportunity to benefit from “the cultural and social value of participating in such an event”.
In addition, this type of stays and activities, promotes a closer relationship with the University of Romania, so it is expected in the future to repeat this type of Erasmus stays, or to receive teachers from Romania in the university campus of UNEATLANTICO.
It should be noted that UNEATLANTICO promotes internationalization and supports both students and teachers to have enriching experiences like this. On this occasion, UNEATLANTICO teachers say that the experience “has been enriching for both professional and personal development”.
