Víctor González Mijares, head of studies at the Centro de Educación Especial Parayas (CEE Parayas), gave a talk in the course «Fundamentos de la Educación Especial: Procesos de atención a la diversidad» aimed at students of the Master in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (MFP) of the European Atlantic University (UNEATLANTICO)
The subject taught by teacher Ignacio Hernando, focuses on the different models of schooling that are envisaged for students with different educational needs. Thanks to González’s talk, the master students had the opportunity to learn first-hand about the operation of a special education center.
In the words of González, «this paper puts students into perspective on special education institutions, the needs that occur in these and that are able to, when they arrive in the classroom can understand the student and serve him in the most appropriate way». In addition, during the session he explained the evolution of special education centres, their characteristics and the functions of the different professionals working within them.
This initiative, promoted by the teaching team of UNEATLANTICO, aims to provide students in this postgraduate course with a deeper understanding of the real needs, as well as the importance of Pay attention to diversity, integrating theory with the experience of active professionals.
