Víctor Díaz, double degree student in Audiovisual Communication(CA) and Advertising and Public Relations (PRP) of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), won the second prize of the VII Competition of Cinematographic Scripts «Guionize, Stories that Inspire», which took place at the Caja Cantabria Foundation.
Díaz’s script entitled «Memories Faded» was a science fiction story about the importance of preserving memories in physical-analog form in a fully digitized world.
The student says that the idea came from two key situations: the blackout in Spain on April 28 and a trip to Galicia. Díaz is excited that his script will continue touring festivals, hoping that this will facilitate his production in the future.
This contest seeks to be an engine of opportunity for those who believe in the transformative power of stories. The gala, which has the support of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport, was presented by the director general of Culture and Heritage, Eva Guillermina Fernández, at the Festival Palace. In addition, the director of the contest, Tasio Fernández; the director of the Festival, Andrea Fernández; and the director and president of the Asociación Cántabra Audiovisual (ACuCa), Vicente Vega also participated.
The purpose of this festival, the only one in this category in Cantabria and one of the few in Spain, is to continue betting so that the script is the basic element of any audiovisual production, whether short films or feature films. It also seeks to discover and reward emerging talents in screenwriting, fostering a deep link between creators and the Cantabrian heritage.
