The International University of Kwanza (UNIC), a university project of the Ibero-American University Foundation(FUNIBER) and sister university of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), has been recognized as the second best university in Angola in the latest update of the Webometrics ranking.
The Cybermetrics Laboratory of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is responsible for drawing up the Webometrics Ranking of Universities. This ranking is based on a rigorous assessment of the online presence and impact of academic institutions, measuring the quantity and quality of web content and the scientific output of each institution.
UNIC has risen rapidly in this ranking. In 2022, the university was ranked fourth, a remarkable achievement for a relatively young institution. The following year, it rose to third place, demonstrating its commitment to academic excellence and innovation. For the 2024 edition, UNIC achieved second place, consolidating its position as one of the country’s leading universities.
This success reflects the continuous improvement of UNIC’s academic quality and scientific output. The university has also strengthened its strategic partnerships, including close collaboration with the European University of the Atlantic and other institutions in the FUNIBER network. These alliances facilitate student mobility, boost research and promote the exchange of experts.
Since its foundation, UNIC has experienced accelerated growth and has received other recognitions, such as the Archiletras University of the Year Award in 2023. This award highlights its work in the linguistic, cultural and educational fields, being the first African university with an Iberophone vocation to use Portuguese and Spanish as vehicular languages in its educational methodology.
This new recognition in the ranking of universities in Angola highlights UNIC’s global impact and reinforces its prestige in the international educational field.
