Throughout the day, the first students will arrive in the new European University of the Atlantic’s university residence. Classes do not start until September 18th, so, at the moment, only 15 students will be occupying rooms this week in Santander. They are just a small representation of the more than 200 students who have already reserved a place and who will be joining throughout this month.
In this first group there are students from different Spanish locations (Bilbao, Jaén, Navarra and Pamplona) but there are also students coming from other countries: Norway, Sweden, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico and Colombia. A residence with an international atmosphere and located at 500 meters away from the campus, that offers two different types of accommodation: shared rooms or apartments.
The apartments have a 115m2 area and four bedrooms with a bathroom en suite, as well as a kitchen with refrigerator, cooktop and microwave. The living room is common and is equipped with a couch, some tables, chairs and a TV. All bedrooms will have a single bed, a wardrobe, a desk, shelving, a table-lamp and a chair.
The residence will also offer 57 shared rooms of between 28 and 45 m2. In this type of accommodation, students will have two beds, two desks, kitchen, office and television. In addition, the campus reserved 6 adapted apartments for the disabled.
All the residence rooms will have water supply, electricity, gas and heating included in the monthly fees. There will also be wi-fi in all the facilities of the residence, bed linen and towel for each student, as well as room cleaning and change of linen and towels one day per week. Guests of the residence will be able to use a self-service laundry room in the own facilities.
Finally, the residence will be opening, over the next few weeks, a library, a restaurant, a dining room and a fitness center. A car park and a green parking area complete the avant-garde facilities, which are comfortable, functional and designed to meet energy efficiency criteria and the accommodation needs of professors, researchers and students.
