The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic,UNEATLANTICO) has received the institutional visit of the ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador, the Excma. Ms. Ms. Anabella Machuca. The meeting, organized in collaboration with the Fundación Innovación y Desarrollo (FIDBAN) and the Sociedad para el Desarrollo de Cantabria (SODERCAN), has had as its main objective to strengthen academic and business links between the two regions.

Upon her arrival on campus, the ambassador was received by the institution’s grand rector, Rubén Calderón. After the formal greeting, Machuca held a close meeting with a group of Salvadoran students studying at the university. During the talk, students shared their academic experiences and future plans, while the ambassador gave them advice for their professional development and reminded them of the constant support of the embassy during their stay in Spain.

The institutional agenda included a key meeting with the President of the Government of Cantabria, Ms. María José Sáenz de Buruaga, aimed at consolidating bilateral cooperation.

Subsequently, at the UNEATLANTICO facilities, a working session was held with managers of SODERCAN. In this forum, the ambassador presented El Salvador not only as a tourist reference, but as a strategic destination for investment. The importance of creating two-way synergies that enable Cantabrian and Salvadoran companies to generate new business opportunities was stressed. During the day, FIDBAN’s role in this ecosystem was highlighted, highlighting the two rounds of investment promoted in Central America in which various Salvadoran projects have already participated.

The day ended with a tour of the campus, where the ambassador was able to see first-hand the specialized laboratories, the sports areas and the university residence, noting the cutting-edge infrastructure that welcomes international students.
