On 22 September, the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) held its traditional Welcome Day, an event designed to welcome new international students from more than twenty countries to the campus.
With the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, the university welcomes more than one hundred international students from different countries in Asia, Africa and America. The Welcome Day celebration, which took place in the university’s Exhibition Hall, began with a warm welcome from Luis Prado, lecturer and director of the mentoring programme. The students collaborating in the programme were then introduced and shared their experiences as university students, highlighting how this experience has enriched their academic and personal development.
Next, Esperanza Gutierrez and Cristina Mendez, representatives of UNEATLANTICO’s Office of International Relations (ORI), spoke with the students to provide them with all the information they need to guide them through the immigration process. Afterwards, a video was shown in which Isabel Diego, lecturer and head of the Psychopedagogical Office, welcomed the students to Santander and gave them information about the support that the office can provide.
Finally, an activity was organised to promote the integration and socialisation of students who had just begun their academic careers at UNEATLANTICO, where they discussed their first experiences in Santander and talked about their expectations for this new stage in their lives.
This activity stands out for its commitment to the integration and support of its international students, promoting a diverse and culturally enriching environment for the entire university community.
