UNEATLANTICO students visit the Chema Madoz exhibition at the Naves de Gamazo

Students from the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO) on the degrees in Audiovisual Communication (AC), Advertising and Public Relations (ARP) and Journalism (JOUR) visited the exhibition of the photographer Chema Madoz at the Naves de Gamazo, organised by the ENAIRE Foundation.

This activity was carried out as part of the Photography subject, taught by the teacher and head of Cultural Outreach, Helena Garay. The main purpose of this outing was for students to reflect on and understand the importance of the gaze in striking images, using simple objects. In addition, students were able to discuss the symbolism and hidden messages in Madoz’s images, discovering new forms of artistic interpretation.

The tour of the exhibition was guided by staff from the Naves de Gamazo, who provided detailed information about the artist’s technique and creative process. In this way, the future communication professionals gained a deeper understanding of the importance of concept and planning in photographic production.

About the exhibition

It is worth noting that the UNEATLANTICO students had the opportunity to see an exhibition that brings together a hundred photographic works and several sculptures created by the artist during his more than forty-year artistic career. As the ENAIRE Foundation explains, in these pieces Madoz ‘has captured the infinite possibilities of objects, creating a magical world that invites the public to reflect and interpret without interfering even with the texts on the labels, so that the experience is a direct one with the work of art’.

This visit, promoted by Garay, reinforces UNEATLANTICO’s commitment to the comprehensive education of its students, offering them tools to develop their talent and explore new forms of artistic expression. Experiences like this help broaden their perspective, enhance their visual education and stimulate their creativity.
