UNEATLANTICO students promote sporting inclusion through a match with Santander Hockey Plus

A group of students of (CAFYD) of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), in the framework of the subject of Inclusive Physical Education, carried out an innovative project with the aim of making visible and raising awareness about the practice of sports for people with special needs.

The project, promoted by students, not only consisted of an inclusive match, but also the recording of a documentary showing the team, their training sessions, and highlights of the friendly match, by students of the Audiovisual Communication (CA) degree, which will be shown soon. With this, those involved wanted to ‘provide greater visibility to the team’, as Jaime Rivera, a student of the CAFYD degree, states.

It should be noted that thanks to this initiative, the students who have participated in the game have been able to put into practice what they have learned in class, getting to see first-hand how to develop and implement an activity, applying adaptation criteria that facilitated the effective participation of all players.

This friendly match is not the first time that the university has collaborated with Santander Hockey Plus, as representatives of the club have already visited the UNEATLANTICO campus to give a talk on the importance of inclusion in sports.

Finally, it is worth mentioning the commitment of the university community to promote and raise awareness of inclusion through various sporting activities.
