Representing the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), Juan Luis Vidal, professor and director of the International Relations Office (ORI), Cristina Méndez, member of the ORI and Luis Eduardo Prado, director of Communication, together with students of the university have attended the ‘Young Europe Dialogue’, organised by the Parliament of Cantabria.
‘Young Europe Dialogue’ is part of one of the local dialogues supported by the European Committee of the Regions in its aim to bring Europe and European affairs closer to the territories and which also has the collaboration of the Directorate General of European Funds of the Government of Cantabria. It is a way of making young people’s concerns about the situation in Europe known. In addition, it was inaugurated by the President of the Parliament of Cantabria and the Minister of Presidency, Justice, Interior and Administrative Simplification of the Government of Cantabria.
The event consisted of three round tables, moderated by the Cadena Ser journalist, Jana Sánchez. The first table was composed by the student of UNEATLANTICO, Paula Díaz-Velarde, who spoke about the problems we face in terms of ecology and climate change and their possible solutions.
The CEO of SIALI, the head of the Navigation and Robotics area at CTC and the technician at Ingram Micro European Services, spoke about technology and digitalisation in the second round table, raising the opportunities that AI brings with a good use.
Also, in the third round table, Romanian UNEATLANTICO student Darie Denis-Iulian participated as an ERASMUS student to talk about immigration and society. In addition, a variety of personalities from the Cantabrian political and business world attended the event, which was accompanied by networking moments.
The event was closed by the Director General of European Funds of the Government of Cantabria, Marta García and the Director General of Local Administration, External Action and Casas de Cantabria, Marta González.
This type of initiative has contributed to broaden the knowledge of the students, making them know first hand the association and its importance. They also understand the relevance it has when it comes to helping young people.
