Jessica Guerrero, the delegate of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO), and Daniel Campuzano, representative of the Theater Workshop, visited the headquarters of La Cocina Económica in Santander, accompanied by Laura Saiz, director of the Office of Cooperation and Social Action (OCAS), to present the funds raised during the return of the Theater Classroom to the stage, as well as at the international food fair on University Day. The total amount raised was €1,400.
Upon arrival, they were greeted by Luz Lopez, director of the center, and Sister Ana Rivero, who escorted the students through the facilities of La Cocina Económica to explain the charitable work they do, which has allowed them to contribute to Cantabrian society. During the visit, they were able to see not only various useful areas, such as the soup kitchen and the kitchen, but also the grocery store, various workshops, and the shelter.
In addition, they were introduced to the various tasks they perform in meeting basic needs through various training and employment programs, social intervention, and shelter to promote the social and labor integration of the most vulnerable.
The UNEATLANTICO Theater Workshop recently presented the play El último trago (The Last Drink), a production featuring seventeen students from different programs at the institution. Under the direction of Lorena Güemes, head of the theater class, the students portrayed various characters, demonstrating everything they had learned throughout the year in their theater classes. The play served as a showcase of the group’s work, dedication, and artistic growth throughout the course.
This initiative was carried out with the support of Student Services, the Office of Cooperation and Social Action (OCAS), and, of course, the selfless and supportive work of the students.
