UNEATLANTICO strengthens its institutional presence in China with new university partnerships

The (Universidad Europea del Atlantico) (European Atlantic University) (UNEATLANTICO) has strengthened its internationalization strategy during a recent visit to China, led by the president of the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER),  Santos Gracia Villar.

On behalf of UNEATLANTICO, the rector, Rubén Calderón, attended. Also, on behalf of the FUNIBER delegation, attended F. Álvaro Durántez Prados; the delegate of FUNIBER in China and executive director of Ueasi Edu&Tech Co., Ltd., Chen Dong.

In the framework of the VII Ibero-American and Iberophonic Forum, under the title «Forum for Cooperation between China and the Countries of Spanish and Portuguese Languages 2025», led by Chen Dong, executive director of Ueasi, were held lectures by various professionals, the Rector of UNEATLANTICO, who analysed the economic potential of cooperation between China and the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries.

During the meeting, the «Alliance for Educational Cooperation between China and the Spanish and Portuguese Speaking Countries» was officially presented, composed of FUNIBER and its University Network, as well as more than twenty founding institutions, Beijing University of Foreign Studies (Beijing), Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, Shenyang University of Architecture, Bohai University, Shandong University of Youth and Political Science, International Foundation for Education, the Culture, Science and Health of the West, and Ueasi Edu&Tech.

During its stay in China, the European Atlantic University held institutional meetings with two universities located in key regions of the country, with the main objective of consolidating existing academic relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.

At the first, the UNEATLANTICO delegation was warmly welcomed by Rector Zhao Jianguo and Vice-Rector Pan Dechangen of Bohai University in Jinzhou, Liaoning Province. During the meeting, both institutions reviewed the progress of joint projects developed to date and agreed on the importance of deepening their strategic collaboration.

Among the topics discussed were the consolidation of the teaching of Spanish, the promotion of exchange programmes for teachers and students, the development of joint academic projects and, in particular, the implementation of 3+1 which will enable Chinese students to complete three years of training at their home university and one final year at UNEATLANTICO.

The two institutions expressed their strong will to continue expanding these links and to advance new initiatives in the short and medium term.

On the other hand, at the Shandong Youth University of Political Science in Jinan, Shandong Province, the delegation was received by Secretary General Wei Yanju and Vice-Rector Zhang Jie, who expressed a marked interest in intensifying the relationship with UNEATLANTICO. The meeting concluded with the signing of a cooperative intent which lays the groundwork for further far-reaching projects.

The agreement provides for the development of the joint campus project, the expansion of Spanish language teaching, the promotion of dual degree programmes and the design of future activities in the field of university internationalization. The host institution stressed the importance of this step as the beginning of a stable and lasting partnership.

These visits reflect UNEATLANTICO’s commitment to strengthening its presence in China and expanding educational initiatives that generate mutual benefits. The university thus continues to advance its internationalization strategy, with the aim of creating academic bridges that encourage cultural exchange and the development of joint projects between Asia and Europe.
