Santander, February 3, 2015
Today, the provost of European University of the Atlantic, Rubén Calderón, and his counterpart, from International Ibero-American University of Puerto Rico (UNINI), Carmen Rita Román, signed in Santander a framework cooperation agreement with the aim of promoting the exchange of professors and students between both academic institutions.
Both universities commit to establish the necessary means to share programs, scientific and technological knowledge, and research methods that guarantee internationalization and knowledge exchange. The agreement is initially valid for four years, although both parties have pointed out their interest in it for becoming the starting point of a potential collaboration in different aspects of university life.
In this sense, Carmen Rita pointed out that, even though in the short term this agreement “will promote the participation of professors from both universities in joint Master’s and Doctorate programs”, there is “a shared interest—in a near future—for this agreement to turn into an exchange program of students who are taking similar studies.”
On the other hand, the provost of European University of the Atlantic added that this agreement “facilitates mutual collaboration and lays the foundations to start working from now on a shared framework that promotes the addition of professors and trainees to research teams from both academic institutions.”
Furthermore, Calderón mentioned that this collaboration joins the one already existing with the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, with whom they are working on research projects “decisively”. In this same line, the provost announced that in the following weeks, they will sign another agreement “on similar terms” with International Ibero-American University of Mexico.
