UNEATLANTICO present at the investiture honoris causa by the UIMP of the Nobel Prize in Economics Joseph E. Stiglitz

The Vice-Rector for Academic and Teacher Education and Director of the Degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE), Dr. Silvia Aparicio, attended the investiture on behalf of the European University of the Atlantic  (UNEATLANTICO), coinciding with the Minister for the Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, with whom he had an exchange on monetary policy issues.

The Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) has awarded Doctor Honoris Causa to the Nobel Prize in Economics Joseph E. Stiglitz in a solemn act presided by the rector of the institution, Dr. Carlos Andradas, which was attended by academic authorities, institutional representatives and leading economic figures.

Joseph E. Stiglitz, one of the most influential economists of recent times, defended the idea that universities are the places where the critical spirit is born, as well as a vision of the economy at the service of human welfare and equity, stressing the importance of strong institutions and effective public policies as essential elements to ensure sustainable and inclusive development.

Dr. Silvia Aparicio, Vice-Rector of Academic and Teacher Education and Director of the Degree in Administration and Business Management at UNEATLANTICO had the opportunity to talk with the Spanish Minister of Economy, Carlos Cuerpo, about issues related to monetary policy.

With this distinction, the UIMP recognizes not only the extraordinary career of the economist-which includes his passage by institutions of great international importance such as the World Bank and the Council of Economic Advisors of the White House-, but also the decisive influence of his work on the contemporary debate on public policies and on the evolution of economic thought on a global scale.
