The rector of the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO), Rubén Calderón, represented the institution in the commemorative acts of the forty-sixth anniversary of the Spanish Constitution in the Parliament of Cantabria.
On 6 December, the Cantabrian Parliament commemorated the 46th anniversary of the Magna Carta with the traditional institutional act attended by the President, María José Sáez de Buruaga, and all the ministers of the autonomous Executive, as well as the President of the autonomous Chamber, María José González Revuelta, and representatives of all the parliamentary groups; the delegate of the Government, Eugenia Gómez de Diego, and a wide institutional representation of the autonomous community.
The President of the Parliament focused her speech on the constitutional oath taken by the Princess of Asturias, highlighting the motto ‘A democracy for all generations’, which was chosen for its profound social and institutional significance, as well as for its relevance over time, allowing several generations to have lived ‘in peace and freedom’, as González Revuelta expressed.
Once the speech was over, a musical programme conducted by Víctor Manuel Aja Trueba took place, which culminated the ceremony with the interpretation of the Spanish Anthem.
It should also be noted that both the president’s speech and the musical performance took into account the victims of the DANA.
