The Oficina de Cooperación y Acción Social (Cooperation and Social Action Office, OCAS) of the Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic) is organizing, together with the Social Action area of the Iberoamerican University Foundation (FUNIBER), the International Solidarity Campaign – Toy Drive.
The objective is to mobilize our community, including students, scholarship holders, collaborators, faculty, employees, and family members to donate toys that will be destined to children in situations of social vulnerability.
The campaign seeks to stimulate solidarity and volunteerism in our community to reinforce everyone’s commitment to society.
Toys are tools that contribute to children’s development: cognitive, physical, emotional, and social. As stated in the Rights of the Child, play and recreation are recognized as fundamental to the growth of healthy children.
How to participate?
The toy drive will take place from November 27 to December 8, 2023.
Toys should be new or used if in good condition, preferably educational, eco-friendly, and non-violent.
The donation will go to the Fundación CUIN (CUIN Foundation) for the Aid and Protection of Children and Youth in Cantabria. The non-profit organization was created in 1993, and its purpose is to improve the quality of life and educational care for minors in Cantabria, as well as to protect and watch over the interests of children and adolescents in collaboration with the Government of Cantabria. Among their main actions, they seek:
- To promote comprehensive care for children and young people as a fundamental right, improving their quality of life and that of those around them.
- To facilitate dialogue and promote actions and programs that favor their personal development and forge autonomous, healthy, and safe adults.
Internationalization of the Campaign
The event is held in collaboration with the Universidad Internacional do Cuanza (International University of Cuanza, UNIC), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana de México (International Iberoamerican University of Mexico, UNINI Mexico), the Fundación Universitaria Internacional de Colombia (International University Foundation of Colombia, UNINCOL), the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana (International Iberoamerican University, UNIB), and the Universidad de La Romana (University of La Romana, UNIROMANA).
In addition, FUNIBER makes available its headquarters so that people interested in participating can donate toys. The universities in the network are also organizing spaces for collection. See the map below for location addresses:
