The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic), its Rector and the members of the Board of Trustees deeply regret the death of Joan Escolà, Vice-President of the Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana (Iberoamerican University Foundation, FUNIBER) and one of the main people responsible for the international expansion of FUNIBER and UNEATLANTICO.
The university wishes to express its condolences and its love and affection to all his family, colleagues and loved ones. Joan Escolá was a member of the board of trustees of UNEATLANTICO, since its consolidation, contributing his dedication and effort as key to the consolidation of the university and turning it into an institution with global projection, which today is distinguished by its internationalisation.
In addition to his important role in the academic and professional sphere, Joan Escolà was an exceptionally human person, whose character and values transcended beyond the functions he performed. His warmth, generosity and ability to listen to and support others left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. His commitment to education and his passion for contributing to the development of people made him a point of reference both inside and outside the university.
Joan Escolà will be remembered not only for his professional achievements, but also for his kindness, his vision and the positive impact he left on the educational community. In addition, it is worth noting that for his contribution to the academic community, the UNEATLANTICO library was named in his honour in October 2018.
UNEATLANTICO declares institutional mourning for three days in honour of Joan Escolà.
