The Universidad Europea del Atlántico (European University of the Atlantic, UNEATLANTICO) hosts one more year the HIV awareness day by the Cantabrian Anti-aids Citizens’ Association (ACCAS) with the aim of raising awareness among students about the importance of HIV in health, its impact and the need for preventive measures.
This day, represented by the ACCAS collaborators Angela González, Miriam Bustillo, Olaya Velasco, Virginia García and Raquel Martínez, took place in the university’s first floor with a point of consultation with information brochures and prevention materials available to students.
In addition, interested students were offered free rapid saliva HIV testing, which was completely confidential.
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a bacterium that damages the immune system by destroying a type of white blood cell that helps your body fight infections. In 2024, it was estimated that 40.8 million suffer and live with this disease, of which 1.4 million are adults and young people.
